Our parents live far away and I often watch Emma when Jess needs me to. I just want to have my family at my graduation. You might not like your job much but blowing off a days wages for a party that was going to run into the very early hours of the morning isn't something friends should expect of you, especially when you are getting ready for college and presumably want to save as much as possible for that.
